On Sunday, May 29, unidentified gunmen shot to death Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala in Jawaharke village, Mansa district.
Two other people have been hurt in the encounter, according to reports, in which more than 30 rounds were fired. In a critical condition, Moosewala was brought to the government hospital in Mansa, where he was declared dead.
The event occurred a day after the Punjab Police ordered his protection, as well as the security of more than 420 persons, including former MLAs, Jathedars of two Takhts, Deras’ leaders, and police units, to also be lifted.
“Three people were brought to the hospital, of whom Sidhu Moosewala was dead. After giving primary treatment, the two injured have been referred to a higher institute for further treatment,”
Dr Ranjeet Rai quoted.
Sidhu Moose Wala campaigned for Punjab assembly in this year’s election on a Congress ticket from Mansa, but then was trounced by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by 63,000 votes. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann immediately fired Vijay Singla over corruption allegations.
