Male Afghan news presenters have launched a social media campaign days after the Taliban government issued an edict requiring female coworkers to cover their faces at work. The male anchors are shown wearing a face mask during transmission as part of the promotion. They’re also using a hashtag to share images of themselves.
Journalists from International News Organisations, such as Deutsche Welle, have taken notice of the decree and campaign. Various Organisations from all over the world have also criticised this move from the Taliban Government and regarded as ignorance of rights for women in Afghanistan. India has also shown its anti supportive nature regarding this issue after UNSC.
