Goa Forest Ministry to classify ‘Vagheri Hill’ as ECO-SENSITIVE AREA

Goa Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Monday that his department will monitor the state’s eco-sensitive areas every 15 days using satellite and Google imagery. Rane released satellite-imaged photos of a hill in the Vagheri district of Sattari in north Goa that showed the peak’s top losing its green cover. He stated that Vagheri Hill would be designated as an eco-sensitive region, and that a file has been filed in this regard.

Rane, who met with officials from the forest department and the Department of Town and Country Planning, said an investigation would be launched into the matter. The Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary is close to the Vagheri Hill.
