According to sources, large gatherings are no longer allowed, and mobile internet connectivity has been shut down as a result of the violence that occurred before Chief Minister N Biren Singh visited the region today on Friday.
The situation in southern Churachandpur remained tense as “miscreants” set fire to the place where the Chief Minister will be speaking at a gathering today. Late night, a police officials further stated that, there had been fire at the spot where the Chief Minister who was supposed to visit the hill district on Friday.
A number of goods, including chairs, had been burned. To take charge of the situation, top police officers have gone to the area with reinforcement. Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was used to impose ban orders in the district to stop any unwanted circumstances further in the district.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has asked for an eight hour stoppage of  in the Churachandpur area on Friday beginning at 8 a.m. to protest the state government’s eviction campaign from the protected and reserve forests.
The Forum, further have claimed that, despite several faxes to the government objecting to a drive to evict farmers and other tribal members from reserved woodland sectors, “the authorities has shown no sign of readiness or seriousness to address the plight of the people”.
