6.3 Magnitude Of Earthquake Jolts Nepal, Further Tremors Felt In Delhi-NCR

According to information, North India experienced intense vibrations early on Wednesday as a 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Himalayan region near Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand near the Nepal border.

As stated by the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake struck Nepal around 1.57 am on Wednesday, some 90 kilometres east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand (NCS). The tremors that were felt in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and the surrounding areas roused people from their slumber.

A string of minor earthquakes have occurred over the past several days in Nepal and Uttarakhand’s nearby Himalayan region. Further, the Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi stated that, “Didn’t want to expose but one can safely remark it did feel like an earthquake”.

The Congress’s leader, Radhika Khera, urged everyone to “stay watchful and keep safe”.According to radio host Raunac, it was quite terrifying. The USGS estimates that the earthquake’s epicentre was 21 kilometres away from Dipayal in Nepal.

Late Tuesday night, the region saw at least two 4.9 and 3.5 magnitude earthquakes, as per the NCS data. A 4.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Uttarakhand on Sunday had its epicentre 17 km to the east-southeast of Uttarkashi.
