What is 5G and its benefits?
The 5G is the next generation of 4G networks. The 4G networks was only limited to smartphones but 5G can be used in robots, machines and smart cars. The 5G is 10 times faster than 4G. The main advantage of 5G is its greater bandwidth offering higher downloading speed. The 5G will also bring development in remote data monitoring sectors such as mining, ware housing, telemedicine and manufacturing. 5G has a low latency (efficiency to process a certain volume of data with minimal speed) as compared to 3G and 4G. The 5G can also be used in various public services like health sector, smart farming and disaster management.
“5G is much more than the next generation of connectivity technology. To my mind, it’s foundational technology that unlocks full potential of other 21st century technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things, Robotics, Blockchain & Metaverse”.
Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani
Two of the biggest telecom service providers in the country Airtel and Reliance Jio have announced that they will start 5G services this year, however, there is no clarity on users access to it. The 5G services will first launch in only 13 cities of India. The 13 cities where 5G networks will come first include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. Among these, key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai are expected to be the very first regions. Reliance Jio may start the services by Diwali this year.
