The Bombay High court on Friday has allowed Uddhav Thackrey-led Shiv Sena to hold Dussehra rally at historic Shivaji Park from October 2-6. After BMC denied the permission for the rally, Thackeray group filed a plea against the mumbai civic body for not allowing them to hold their traditional rally on Dussehra. In response to that Shinde’s MLA Sada Savarkar had also filed an intervention application, claiming that Thackeray group surpressed information regarding proceedings pending before the apex court and the Election commission to decide true Shiv Sainik.
A Division bench of Justices R.D Dhanuka and Kamal Khata pulled up BMC for “abuse of power” in denying permission for the gathering. The bench also stated the police to ensure security arrangements while allowing them to record the event to check for violations if any. The intervention application of the MLA was also rejected.
This is definitely a moral victory for Uddhav-led camp against their counterpart who made alliance with BJP and formed the government. The decision of true Shiv Sena is pending before the apex court and the Election commission. But with more than 40 MLAs, CM Shinde‘s faction looks stronger successor of Balasaheb Thackeray.
