The Brihanmumbai muncipal corporation (BMC) has denied permission to both Shiv Sena camp to hold a rally at Shivaji Park on Dussehra. Both Shiv Sena led by Thackeray and Shinde group are willing to hold their traditional Dussehra rally on october 5.
The BMC and the Police have denied the possible permission to maintain law and order in the city. The BMC has also told that since both groups are trying to seek permission for only one place, allowing one group may disrupt peaceful environment at Shivaji Park.
Uddhav Thackeray led group has challenged the BMC’s decision in Bombay high court and urged to listen to the plea on urgency. In response to that, Shinde group MLA Sada Savarkar also filed an intervention application, claiming that Thackeray group suppressed information regarding the proceedings pending before the apex court and the Election commission to decide true shiv sainik.
The rally on Dussehra at Shivaji Park every year is a tradition for Shiv Sena. This is the first time Shiv Sena is fighting for its real successor, after CM Shinde group fell apart from Thackeray camp and formed government with BJP. Shiv Sena holds both political and emotional link with Shivaji park. It was a Dussehra rally back in 2010 when Aaditya Thackeray debut in politics as the head of the Yuva sena.
