The fight against Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle is a joint effort between the federal government and the states, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Numerous states struggle with Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle, and the dairy industry is now affected.
“Our scientists have also prepared an indigenous vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease”, PM Modi stated during a speech to the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, which is taking place at India Expo Centre & Mart here.
“Recently, there have been many deaths of livestock due to the disease in various states of India”, he added. Cattle are susceptible to the contagious viral disease LSD, which can result in skin nodules, fever, and sometimes even death.
The disease is spreading by tainted food and drink, as well as through direct contact with wasps, flies, cattle, mosquitoes and also lice. The inaugural event was attended by both Parshottam Rupala, fishery Ministry and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
Additionally the presence of Sanjeev Balyan, a State Minister for agriculture, animal husbandry, and dairying was also there.
