The OBC Morcha, or OBC wing, of the BJP is holding its two-day national working committee meeting in Jodhpur, which is also the district of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the hometown of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The conference intends to broaden the party’s OBC support base in the state ahead of the assembly elections. The BJP also wants to determine how strong its influence is in the state’s western region. The OBC mali caste member Ashok Gehlot is well-known across western Rajasthan.
Home minister Amit Shah will speak during the inaugural session of the significant meeting after arriving in Jaisalmer last night. Amit Shah will attend the Tanot Mata temple in Jaisalmer before continuing on to Jodhpur. Shortly after the OBC Morcha meeting.
Amit Shah will also address and attend booth-level workers of BJP at Jodhpur’s Dussehra Ground. The gathering was launched by Satish Poonia, the party’s chairman in Rajasthan, and K Laxman, the president of the BJP’s OBC Morcha.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje visited Jodhpur. Her fans turned up in large numbers to welcome her, sending a loud message to the central leadership that Ms. Raje still has a big fan base in the state.
