Mohammad Rizwan becomes ICC No.1 T20 Batsman, ends Babar’s reign of 1,155 days

Mohammad Rizwan has replaced Babar Azam as the No. 1 T20I hitter in the world, moving up the rankings. In the Asia Cup, Rizwan has been in outstanding form, topping the run charts with 192 runs in 3 games.

After Babar and Misbah-ul-Haq, Rizwan is the third Pakistani batsman to hold the top spot in the T20I rankings. Throughout his career, Babar has spent 1155 days at the top of the T20I batting charts (as of 7 September).

In response to ranking as the top T20I batter, Mohammad Rizwan tweeted, “This is the 1156th day of skipper Babar Azam’s rule. He and I are the same. The monarch continues to rule. All of us are one.”

In order to go from 796 rating points to a career-best 815 and take the top spot for the first time, Rizwan backed up his Player of the Encounter performance of 78 off 57 deliveries in an Asia Cup Group A match against Hong Kong supported with a critical 71 off 51 against India in a Super Fours match in Dubai.

Suryakumar Yadav of India has dropped to fourth place in the most recent update, while a number of players from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have climbed the rankings after excelling in the Asia Cup.
