According to sources, following the announcement of a pilot strike, German airline group Lufthansa stated that all of its flights to and from its major German hubs in Munich and Frankfurt will be cancelled on Friday.

The Lufthansa airlines has cancelled 800 flights on September 2 that will “impact 130,000 customers”. Pilots started the strike that will have an impact on both Lufthansa Cargo and the passenger airline after salary negotiations with the German airline failed.

The strike will take place on Friday from 00:01 a.m. till 23:59 p.m. In light of the altered flight schedule, Lufthansa further said there may be more “individual cancellations or delays on Saturday and Sunday”.

Lufthansa Airlines To Raise the Basic Salary :

The airlines company publicly apologized at the union’s decision while pointing out that it had offered a very good offer to raise the base salary of the pilots by 900 euros $902 that is per month. The Cockpit pilot union is requesting a wage grid change, an automatic adjustment for inflation, and a 5.5 percent pay hike by the end of the year.

Lufthansa stated that, the complete union-requested package would increase the cost of hiring pilots by 40%, or 900 million euros. But, the union cautioned that in order to prevent labour disputes, the airlines must “make a substantially improved offer, right now, we are too far apart.

In addition to making up for the loss of actual pay, we now demand a long-term fix for the compensation framework across all occupational categories “stated by Marcel Groels, Cockpit’s mediator.
