U.S. ARMY : The Entire Chinook Chopper Fleet Lands Despite Engine Fires

According to reports, the US Army has landed the entire fleet of Chinook chopper, a hallmark of the battlefield since the 1960s, due to the risk of engine fires. They further said that, such an dramatic action was taken out of an excessive amount of caution.

In India, there are approximately Fifteen CH-47 Chinook helicopters. Over the past few years, they have developed into one of the most crucial military tools for airlift missions to support Indian troops stationed in locations like Ladakh and Siachen Glaciers.

India received its first cargo of Chinook choppers in February 2019. Boeing completed the delivery of 15 Chinook helicopters to the IAF in 2020. As per authorities, the US Army was told of a few engine fires in the choppers, but no injuries or fatalities were recorded as a result of the incident.

The flames started instantly, as stated by one of the officers,   The US Army Materiel Command landed its fleet of hundreds of choppers out of an excess of caution. Authorities, meanwhile, were inspecting more than 70 aircraft that had a part believed to be connected to the problem.

The landing of the heavy-lift Chinook choppers may provide logistical challenges for American personnel, based on how long the orders are in force. The US Army’s fleet of helicopters includes around 400 of these vehicles.
