Joint military exercise “Yudh Abhyas”, between India and the US is completely different: India

China opposes third parties interfering in India-China border disputes, and in response to India-US joint military exercises known as Yudh Abhyas, India declared on Thursday that they are “completely different.”

Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated during a weekly press conference that the two parties should adhere to previous agreements.
“I don’t get the allusion to outside interference. The exercise in India and the US is quite different, and I’m not sure what colour that has been given. It violates agreements and is targeted”, he claimed.

China vehemently objected to the war games between India and the US that were set to take place near the disputed Sino-Indian border in October, claiming that they would interfere with bilateral boundary negotiations and would violate agreements between Beijing and New Delhi that no military exercises would take place close to the Line of Actual Control.

When asked about his thoughts on the ongoing and upcoming US-India joint military exercises near the China-India border, Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense (MND), said: “We firmly oppose any third party to meddle in the China-India border issue in any form.”

All About Yudh Abhyas:

The Auli region in Uttarakhand, close to the Chinese border, will host the regular Yudhabhyas series of wargames between India and the US.
According to the official, the drill would take place from October 18 to October 31 in the region’s hilly terrain, where more resources and troops have been deployed over the past two years.

Due to the Taiwan dispute, ties between the United States and China are tight, and since around May 2020, the Indian military has been engaged in a stalemate with the Chinese.

The Yudhabhyas wargame between India and the US, intended to improve interoperability between the two sides, will be the 18th one.

The last time the two armies engaged in wargames was in Alaska, when they conducted training in extremely cold conditions.
