Man Tests Positive For Covid-19, HIV, And MonkeyPox Simultaneously

A 36-year-old man tested positive for monkeypox, COVID-19, and HIV at the same time after returning to Italy from a five-day trip to Spain with symptoms like fever, sore throat, lethargy, and headache.

He then tested positive for monkeypox, COVID-19, and HIV after being sent to the hospital for treatment. The man’s HIV test results showed that he had a significant viral load. After a week or so, he was released from the hospital and was free of the coronavirus and monkeypox.

According to the University of Catania researchers, the example illustrates how monkeypox and COVID-19 symptoms “may overlap” and supports the notion that “co-infection, anamnestic collection, and sexual practises” are crucial for diagnosis.

As of August 17, 92 countries and territories had received reports of more than 35,000 cases of monkeypox, including 12 fatalities. This information comes from WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus.
