IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw asks telcos to prepare for 5G launch

 IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday asked telecom service providers to gear up for 5g launch, following the issuance of spectrum allocation letters.

Information Technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has asked all telecom providers to gear up for the 5G services launch in India. He also stated that the spectrum allocation letter has been issued. 5G services are expected to roll out in India very soon.

“5G Update: Spectrum assignment letter issued, Requesting TSPs to prepare for 5G launch.” Vaishnaw wrote on a social media platform.

PM Modi also stated this during his Independence day speech that 5g services will be available sooner than expected, it will be 10x faster than 4G service speeds in the country. Following the official release, telecom operators including Jio and Vi are actively looking to hire engineers to develop 5G services and related products.

Airtel and Jio are expected to begin the first phase of their 5G services soon, with official release due later in the year. No specific timeline has been revealed regarding the launch timeline.
