Singing Of National Anthem To Be Made Compulsory In All Schools : Karnataka Government

According to Reports, Karnataka government order mandates that the National anthem be sung in all public and private schools, and also in pre-university colleges.

Several schools allegedly skipped the national anthem during morning assemblies, according to accusations the Basavaraj Bommai-led administration has heard. The government responded by sending an announcement to all educational institutions.

They said, while visiting a few nearby schools and morning assemblies, Deputy directors from Bengaluru’s public education department instruction had observed similar behaviour.

The judgement also cited Section 7(2)(g)(I) of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983, which said that “it is essential to follow by the Government and respect its values and institutes, the National Flag and the National Anthem”.

If there is no space for the morning assembly in educational institutions, the National anthem must be sang by the students present, they are not permitted to skip the practice on any working day. The journal claims that the Karnataka government is monitoring St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Bishop Cotton Boys’ High School, and Baldwin Girls’ High School in Bengaluru.
