Foundation Stone Laid By Punjab CM For A Medical College In Sangrur

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation stone for the Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday in Mastuana Sahib, in the Sangrur district.

The medical college would be constructed for  approximately 345 crores and have a campus of 25 acres. The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that, it would go into effect on April 1st, 2023.

About the College Project and Infrastructure :

According to Mann, the project will also increase the Sangrur civil hospital’s capacity from 220 to 360 beds, construct a nursing school, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, sports fields, a student pavilion, an open-air theatre for extra – curricular activities, teacher residences, and a commercial centre.

He gave officials the go-ahead to ensure the prompt completion of work by announcing the project’s expansion of the access road between National Highway 7 to the State Institute of Medical Sciences from 5.5 to 7 metres, including four-laning of the road in front of the college.

Sangrur is going to develop into a hub for medical education. The institute, according to the chief minister, would help his government’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare. “This initiative will be a simple and worthy memorial to religious leader Sant Attar Singh, who spread the message of universal love, peace, and communal harmony”, and Mann added, recalling Sant Attar Singh’s contribution to the advancement of education in the region.

The CM claims that with the opening of the medical college, Sangrur would develop into a hub for regional medical education. Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, and Lal Chand Kataruchak, State cabinet Ministers, attended the occasion.
