CAA To Be Implemented Once Covid Vaccination Camp Is Done : Amit Shah

According to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, the Citizenship Amendment Act, that also seeks to grant citizenship to undocumented people of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, as well as Pakistan who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians, will take effect after the Covid vaccination campaign is over.

Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, and Amit Shah met on Tuesday in Parliament House to talk about how the BJP is operating in West Bengal as well as organisational difficulties.

Adhikari stated after the meeting that the Home Minister had told him the Central Government will move on with the CAA’s long-delayed implementation when the third dosage of the Covid vaccination was finished.

The government began the preventive dose immunisation campaign in April, which is planned to be done in nine months.

At their meeting, Adhikari and Shah also spoke about other issues relating to the BJP’s ongoing political dispute with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is now in power in West Bengal. Adhikari asserted to have presented a list of 100 TMC leaders who ought to face punishment for corruption.

On December 11, 2019, the CAA was informed after Parliament had given its approval. The Central government has failed to draught rules for the Act despite loud requirements from a number of sources, including the northeastern states.

Despite the vociferous protests of the opposition parties, Shah has reiterated that the CAA will be enforced.
