As per Information, a person with knowledge of the issue said that on Tuesday morning, six Chinese jets flew perilously close to the tense Taiwan Straits middle line.
The news that U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be visiting Taiwan later in the day caused tensions to increase.
The source claims that numerous Chinese ships have been positioned close to the de facto boundary since Monday, and Taiwan has dispatched aircraft to monitor the situation. Taiwan’s defence ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to the insider, Chinese warships and aircraft “squeezed” the center line on Tuesday morning, an unprecedented move the person deemed “very aggressive.” Typically, neither side’s planes fly over the median.
The person stated that on Tuesday morning, Chinese aircraft regularly performed tactical manoeuvres in which they momentarily “touched” the median line before circling back to the other side of the strait, with Taiwanese aircraft close and ready to respond.
In an effort to force Taiwan, which is ruled democratically, to surrender to Chinese rule, China has heightened military and political pressure. Taiwan is also seen as Chinese territory.
