Obed McCoy (6/17 in 4 overs) registered not only his best ever career figures but also by any WI bowler in T20Is till now. After winning the toss WI skipper Nicholas Pooran opted to bowl. As from the very first ball (Macoy dismissed Rohit Sharma) nothing went India’s way as the visitors never looked comfortable.
Rohit Sharma 0(1) and Suryakumar Yadav 11(6) started off the innings for India. After the dismisssal of Rohit, Surya also fell cheaply to Macoy. Shreyas Iyyer 10(11) and Rishabh Pant 24(12) then took off from there but both got out in search of quick runs. Hardik 31(31) and Jadeja 27(30) tried to keep things back on track but it was eventually not enough to post even a fighting total. Karthik also failed to finish the game this time for India as the visitors got all-out with only 138 runs on the board.
WI’s disciplined bowling and Obed McCoy’s brilliance
Obed MacCoy registered best ever career figures by any WI bowler in the T20Is and he was well supported by Holder who took 2 wickets and Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph picking 1 wicket each. This was also best ever bowling performance registered by any bowler in T20Is (Obed MacCoy).

Brendon King 68(52) and Kyle Mayers 8(14) started off on high but it was the Indian bowlers who pulled off the things back in India’s favour. WI middle order failed to impress and tumbled in front of India’s disciplined spin attack. Pooran 14(11), Hetmyer 6(10) and Powell 5(8) got out cheaply but it was Devon Thomas 31(19) who took his team over the line in the very last over.
Each Indian bowler took 1 wicket except Bhuvneshwar, who only delivered 2 overs. Finally WI beat India by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
Obed MacCoy was undoubtedly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’. Now the 5 match T20 series is equally poised at 1-1, with still 3 matches to go.
