Rajiv Kumar, the lawyer who filed a PIL against Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, for suspected corruption, was detained by the Kolkata Police Detective Department (DD).

As per the reports of Police, He was taken into custody from a tavern below the Hare Street police station after being the target of a warrant from the Jharkhand Police. He was allegedly detained in relation to a cheating case from Jharkhand. He was found to be in possession of $50,000 in cash by police.

He had filed a PIL in Ranchi High Court against a businessman having a base in Kolkata as per intelligence and he was requesting 10 crore to have the PIL removed. Before settling on 1 crore, he first agreed to a price of 4 crore. The initial payment of 50 lakh rupees was already made when he was captured.

Total number of PILs filed by him :

Due of his links to government organisations, he had also threatened to have the businessman’s house and office raided. Apparently, he is credited with developing more than 600 PILs. Two PILs were filed against CM Soren. One of them alleged that when he was in charge of the Mining portfolio, Mr. Soren had granted himself a mining lease. The other said that Soren had connections to shell companies and money laundering.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to examine Abhishek Prasad, also known as Pintu, the press advisor for Hemant Soren Jharkhand CM, on Monday at its Ranchi zonal office. In compliance with the PMLA  the ED summoned him on July 26 and asked that he come in on Monday to answer questions about illegal mining.

As part of its ongoing, extensive operation in Jharkhand, the ED had previously apprehended Pankaj Mishra, who represents the Chief Minister as an MLA in the Berhait Assembly Constituency. Due to Mr. Mishra’s usage of the name Abhishek Prasad during the investigation and his disclosure of certain critical information, according to ED sources, the ED phoned the press secretary for the Chief Minister.

Mr. Mishra was interrogated for over eight hours on July 19 before being brought into detention. He has been detained by the ED twice for intervals of six days each by the Special PMLA court. One inland vessel, M.V. Infralink- III, was captured in the meantime as a result of extra searches conducted in Sahebganj by a number of ED teams.

During a search “The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has further seized one inland vessel,” the ED said on Wednesday. This vessel is M.V. Infralink-III and has the registration number WB 1809. The investigation into illicit mining, extortion, etc. in Jharkhand is ongoing, therefore this is related to that.

“Without a permit from Sukargarh Ghat, Sahebganj, the aforementioned inland vessel was being utilised illegally. It was being utilised to transport boulders and stone chips that had been illegally mined under Rajesh Yadav’s command, popularly known as Dahu Yadav, and in coordination with Pankaj Mishra and many others “. The organisation added that the projected cost of the vessel will be around 30 crore.

“This was followed by the freezing of three HYVA trucks found in MauzaMajhikola, Sahebganj during a search conducted by the ED carrying allegedly mined stone chips/boulders without having any mining challans,” it said. These two Maa Amba Stone Works stone crushers were being run illegally by Bishnu and Pavitra Yadav.
