Hill stated that, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated earlier on Friday that the House would take up the bill that afternoon and postpone discussion of it until next month.

Fears about the police measures lack of responsibility were voiced by several liberals. According to the Democrats’ initial proposal, the assault weapons ban and public safety precautions would be introduced together.
