Startup Backed By IIT Kanpur Invents Air Purifier That Deactivates Covid

Researchers and scientists keep looking for strategies to treat infections as the dangerous COVID virus keeps evolving into new types. An Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur-backed business recently created an air purifier that, according to the company, can “deactivate” the Covid-19 virus in just one minute.

IIT Kanpur tweeted that a new innovation against air pollutants and the coronavirus known as “Anti-Microbial Air Purification Technology” has been created in collaboration with IIT Bombay. The AiRTH-developed technology ensures total protection by both destroying germs and purifying the air. It has demonstrated to be able to deactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus with an efficacy of 99.9 percent in just one minute after being tested at CSIR-IMTECH, the tweet continued.

Ravi Kaushik, the company’s chief executive officer, noted that the purifier destroys the germs using UV-C irradiation and bombardment with OH radicals in such a way that it is optimised for higher residence time and intensity.
