Partha Chatterjee Arrested For Bengal SSC Scam Also Suspended From TMC

Abhishek Banerjee, the party’s national general secretary, announced on Thursday that arrested leader Partha Chatterjee had been suspended from the TMC and removed from all positions. On Saturday, Chatterjee was detained on suspicion of money laundering in connection with the SSC (School Service Commission) fraud.

When he served as the state’s Minister of Education, he was suspected of having a hand in the alleged illegal hiring of teachers and other staff in government-run schools. He is now being held by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Partha Chatterjee Removed from the Cabinet’ :

The West Bengal administration dismissed Chatterjee from the ministry earlier in the day. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would manage the portfolios he had for the time being.

Partha Chatterjee, minister in charge of the departments of industry, commerce, and enterprises, information technology and electronics, parliamentary affairs, and public enterprises and industrial reconstruction, was relieved of his responsibilities as MIC of the aforementioned department, according to a formal order.

How much Money and Gold recovered’ :

A large quantity of gold jewellery and cash worth 27.9 crore rupees were also found by the ED in an apartment connected to Chatterjee’s close friend Arpita Mukherjee.

After overnight counting, the bundles of cash that were retrieved from the Belgharia flat on Wednesday came to a total of 27.90 crore, as per Enforcement Directorate official. It is unknown how much the gold jewellery is worth, which is estimated to be in kilograms.

The agency raided Mukherjee’s second flat in the Tollygunge neighbourhood of south Kolkata last week and recovered more than 21 crore rupees in cash, jewellery, and foreign currency. Later, she was detained.

After interviewing Mukherjee, ED agents on Wednesday coordinated searches at a number of residences in the Rajdanga neighbourhood of south Kolkata and Belgharia neighbourhood of the city’s outskirts.

In order to enter the two apartments in Belgharia’s Rathtala neighbourhood, Enforcement Directorate sleuths had to bust through a door, they claimed, adding that several “important” documents were also discovered in the homes during a search.
