A Proud Moment for the Chess Capital of India!

With excitement in heart and curiosity in mind India strides forward to host the duel of the masterminds.

India is hosting the FIDE which is Internationale des Échecs’ 44th edition of the chess Olympiad in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu. The preparation for the same had started months ago giving the world hope to see a great sport where intellectuals from various nations compete with pride.

Chennai is decked up in checked Napier bridge and ‘Tambi’ figurines to attract the audience and bring this honorable moment into the limelight. There are several celebratory measures taken from Torch relay to bicycle rallies to give the Olympiad a grand ‘arambham’, as well as to create involvement and ignite the already sparking excitement in the audience.

As Sachin Tendulkar proudly calls it, ‘The birthplace of chess’ in his tweet; Indians exuberantly wait to embrace this event as it beautifully unfolds.

The international sports event is set to happen in Mamallapuram, near Chennai from 28th July 2022 to the 10th of August, 2022. India, the host country with joined hands, would be welcoming 1733 participants altogether arriving from national as well as international origins. The Olympiad would be conducted at Four Points by Sheraton. Whereas the extraordinary and joyous opening and closing ceremonies are to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

By sending forth an impressive and intellectual team of twenty members, India looks forward to this memorable event which would be penned down in history.
