‘Pure Pink Diamond’ discovered! may be the largest in past 300 years

An Australian mining firm claims that a recently discovered pink diamond may be the biggest one to be recovered in the past 300 years.

The Lucapa Diamond Company and its partners unearthed the unusual 170-carat rock in Angola, an African nation.

Diamantino Azevedo, minister of natural resources for Angola, said that the historic find further demonstrates the nation’s prominence in the world of diamond mining.

“It demonstrates the potential and rewards for commitment and investment in our growing diamond mining industry,”

The diamond was characterised as a “extraordinary resource and a gift” by Lupaca’s management.

“We are once again made very proud by yet another historic recovery. “We too look forward to our partnership progressing its exploration effort, where we are now bulk sampling the priority kimberlites, in search for the primary kimberlite sources of these exceptional and high-value diamonds.” the company’s managing director Stephen Wetherall said.

The location of two of Angola’s greatest diamond discoveries is Lulo.

The “4th February Stone,” a 404-carat rock, was discovered there before the famous pink diamond.
