In New Delhi: The Defense Ministry authorized arms acquisition cases worth more than Rs 28,732 crore on Tuesday, providing a significant boost to the modernization of the armed forces, particularly on the occasion of the Kargil Vijay Diwas. Critical supplies for the Indian armed forces, including swarm drones, carbines, and bulletproof jackets, have been approved by the DAC, which Rajnath Singh chairs.

“Defense Acquisition Council meeting headed by Rajnath Singh cleared proposal for bulletproof jackets with enhanced protection against the threat of enemy snippers to our troops deployed along the LoC & in close combat operations in counter-terrorism ops,” the ministry stated.

According to the MoD, the introduction of around 4 lakh Close Quarter Battle (CQB) Carbines was also given clearance. These weapons will be used to battle the complex paradigms of classic and hybrid warfare as well as counterterrorism along the LAC and Eastern Borders with China.

“DAC also approved Indian Coast Guard’s proposal to acquire 14 Fast patrol vessels for enhancing maritime security along with Navy’s proposal to procure an upgraded 1250KW capacity Marine Gas Turbine Generator,”

JP Nadda, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently praised the accomplishments of the Narendra Modi administration and stated that the modernisation of the armed forces has been the government’s main priority for the past eight years.

In response to criticism of the previous administration’s inactivity, Nadda stated that crucial defence assets, such as the Rafale aircraft and 28 Apache helicopters, were procured for the Indian armed forces under the NDA-I and NDA-II administrations. Nadda emphasised the shift in the government’s perspective by stating that the current approach at the Center is to “attack and then report.”
