This is the first time that  the state administration has overseen the installation of the gigantic statue devoted to the goddess. Minister V Sunil Kumar for Kannada and Culture has given his approval to the statue project. The project 2 Crores is situated on a half-acre plot of land in Kalagrama on the Jnanabharathi campus in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka Shilpakala Academy will create a 10-foot grand pedestal on which the statue will stand. Its design will follow professional advise and include details that honour the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The statue of Kannada Taayi (mother Kannada) Bhuvaneshwari has not yet been erected anywhere, according to Kannada & Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar. As a result, the administration has made this choice. The minister continued that officials have been told to finish building the statue in three months.

In addition, Kumar said that although the state is home to memorial statues and idols honouring numerous historical figures and social reformers, no government has yet to erect a statue honouring the Kannada goddess.

who will launch the statue and its month of launch’ :

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will officially launch the statue project in November, whose first day is observed as “Kannada Rajyotsava” (state formation day). During a departmental meeting on Monday, the minister gave instructions for getting the statue and preparing its location for Sankranthi in January.

Once the statue is up, the state government intends to market the Kalagrama as a tourism destination. The Kalagrama auditorium can host daily programmes, according to a directive from Kumar to administrators.

The Karnataka government’s action is perceived as an effort by the in power BJP to project its pro-Kannada identity image ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Notably, the state government is also putting in a 108-foot statue of Bengaluru’s founder, Kempegowda. Kempegowda was a Vijayanagara Empire chieftain during the 16th century. The statue is situated on a 23-acre site at Devanahalli, close to the Kempegowda International Airport, and is anticipated to be completed this year.
