Ayyappanum Koshiyum Bags Honours In National Film Awards

On Friday, July 22, at 4 p.m. in New Delhi, the 68th National Film Awards were announced. Due to the delay brought on by the Covid-19 epidemic, the movies that were released in 2020 were also honoured this year. 295 of the 305 feature films submitted for consideration were chosen. The National Film Award for Best Actor went jointly to Suriya and Ajay Devgn for the movies Tanhaji and Soorarai Pottru. For “Soorarai Pottru,” Aparna Balamurali got the Best Actress prize. The late Sachidanandan KR got the Best Direction award for his film “Ayyappanum Koshiyum.” At the 68th National Film Awards, “Ayyappanum Koshiyum” received a number of prestigious awards.

For his film “Ayyappanum Koshiyum,” Sachidanandan KR, often known as Sachy, received the Best Direction honour posthumously. The movie premiered on February 7, 2020. The argument between Ayyappan, a sub-inspector, and Koshiy, an ex-Havildar, was discussed in the movie. Unfortunately, ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ was Sachy’s final movie because he passed suddenly on June 18, 2020, just a few months after its premiere.

In “Ayyappanum Koshiyum,” Biju Menon portrayed Ayyappan Nair. Sub-inspector Ayyappan Nair works in the Attappadi police department. He is a responsible cop, but when Koshiy Kurien, a powerful man, confronts him, everything goes sideways. Ayyappan Nair’s role was filled to perfection by Biju Menon, who has always transformed into a variety of personalities.

The 68th National Film Awards’ Best Playback Singer (Female) prize went to Nanjiamma. The 62-year-old Attappady singer Nanjiamma is without a doubt the late Sachy’s greatest gift to Malayalam film. Nanjiamma is a folk singer who has performed at numerous national and international events. However, the course of her life and career were altered when Sachy asked her to sing the traditional song “Kalakkatha,” which was also written by her. She is unquestionably a precious jewel with remarkable skill who later won multiple projects.

The conflict between the eponymous characters Ayyappan and Koshiy is the focus of the story “Ayyappanum Koshiyum.” Thus, fighting is unquestionably an important aspect of the movie. Rajasekhar, Mafia Sasi, and Supreme Sunder, who coordinated the stunt, are to be credited for the riveting action sequences in the movie, notably the one near the climax. For best action directing, the trio won the national prize.
