SpiceJet To Start 26 New Flights , Aims To Expand Business

Beginning on July 22, low-cost airline SpiceJet will debut 26 new flights, among them direct services from Delhi to Nashik, Hyderabad to Jammu, Mumbai to Guwahati, Jharsuguda, and Madurai, Varanasi to Ahmedabad, and Kolkata to Jabalpur. According to the company, Q400 and Boeing 737 aircraft will be used on these routes.

Additionally, the airline will boost the number of flights on the Amritsar-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Hyderabad, Delhi-Dharamshala, and Ahmedabad-Jaipur routes. The airline will also begin offering direct flights from Delhi, Hyderabad, Jammu, Guwahati, Jharsuguda, Varanasi, and Kolkata to Nashik, according to SpiceJet.

SpiceJet is currently being scrutinised by regulators following a string of incidents. Following at least eight incidences of mechanical issues with SpiceJet’s aircraft since June 19, the DGCA sent a show-cause notice to the airline on July 6. All of these occurrences are currently being looked at by the DGCA. The airline has also put off disclosing its quarterly earnings for the three months ended March, citing a ransomware attack on its servers, and hasn’t reinstated pilot salaries despite a spike in domestic demand. It has allegedly also fallen behind on its statutory obligations.

Even though there have been numerous mechanical problem occurrences reported in the airline’s planes over the past few days, the occupancy rate has remained strong. SpiceJet stated in a statement that the airline’s occupancy rate, also known as the passenger load factor (PLF), was above 80% between July 1 and July 11. Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh remarked, “I am appreciative of the faith and trust that our passengers have demonstrated.
He continued, “The numbers speak for themselves and are proof that SpiceJet is and has always been the most popular airline in India.
