ASI falls victim to terrorist resurgence in J&K

Jammu & Kashmir: On the third day of Eid al-Adha, on Tuesday, terrorists opened fire at a police naka party in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir’s Lal Bazar neighbourhood. Asi Mushtaq Ahmad passed away from his wounds after the attack left three police officers with serious injuries. Vijay Kumar, the ADGP for Kashmir, has already arrived on the scene. The two other officials who were hurt are currently receiving medical care at a hospital. In the assault, one vehicle owned by a citizen sustained some damage.

“Terrorists fired upon police naka party at Lal Bazar area of Srinagar city. In this terror incident, three police personnel got injured & they have been shifted to hospital.  Area has been cordoned. Further details shall follow.” the police stated.

This follows the morning’s joint effort by the Pulwama police, 55 Rashtriya Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to disarm an IED-like gadget in Jammu and Kashmir, which prevented a massive terror disaster. According to sources, a gas cylinder containing about 5 kg of firecrackers was found. To hurt the security forces, the terrorists positioned the cylinder on Litter Chowdribagh Road.

On the 9th of July as well, Naik Jasvir Singh, an Indian Army soldier, lost his life battling militants trying to cross the border from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the Garang Nar area. Singh, who was shot many times during the ambush, was taken to a military hospital where doctors immediately declared him dead, according to PRO (Defence) Srinagar. In the gunfight that took place near the Line of Control in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district on the nights of July 7 and 8, a terrorist was reportedly also killed.
