After losing the Test match in Birmingham, Team India won the T20 by 50 runs against England in Southampton at 02:05 Indian time on the night of 07 July 2022. Hardik Pandya played an important role in this victory with both bat and ball. However, captain Rohit Sharma created history under his captaincy. He became the first captain in the cricket world to have 13 consecutive wins in T20 Internationals.
Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat and scored 198 runs for 8 wickets. All-rounder Hardik Pandya hit his maiden T20I half-century, scoring 53 (33) runs with the help of 6 boundaries and a six. In reply, the England team, chasing the runs, lost the captain’s wicket in the very first over. England lost their three wickets at the end of the powerplay. And thus England’s innings was packed on148 runs in 19.3 overs. For England, Moeen Ali scored 36, Harry Brooke 28, David Malan 22 and Chris Jordan scored 26 not out. Hardik Pandya named as player of the match.
Since Rohit took over the reins from Virat Kohli team India has been performing extremely well in the shortest format of cricket ever. In the 13 victories that Rohit has won as captain, India has defeated teams like New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and England.
