Ram Charan and Jr. NTR’s movie RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, was named the second-best movie at the 2022 Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Awards. Hollywood productions including Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, Elvis, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent were competitors for RRR. The Hollywood Critics Association announced on Twitter on Friday that “Everything Everywhere All At Once” had won the prize for best film.
The award is given to movies by the Hollywood Critics Association twice a year, in February and July. The HCA awards are presented by Hollywood critics, however all US-released movies are eligible. This is the first time an Indian movie has been recognised in a major Hollywood award list’s Best Picture category and won.
The genre-defying dark comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once made $35 million at the box office in only six weeks after its April release to rapturous reviews. Evelyn Wang, a wife and mother who lives in a reality where the IRS is auditing her at the beginning of the movie, is portrayed in it by Michelle Yeoh. Things take a dramatic and absurdist turn when she realises that in order to preserve the Earth, she must connect with alternate universe versions of herself. Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, James Hong, Jenny Slate, and Jamie Lee Curtis all make brief appearances in the movie.
A fictionalised account of the lives of two Telugu liberation fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, respectively, is found in the film RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. The movie made over Rs. 1200 crore in total. The blockbuster also has Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
