Amravati murder case: Home Ministry directs NIA to probe Amravati chemist murder case

After the brutal murder in Udaipur, one such case came into the limelight from Amravati in Maharashtra. Chemist Umesh Kolhe, 54, was murdered on June 21. Initial reports claim that he has been murdered for his Facebook post in support of Nupur Sharma. Now Union Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over the investigation of the murder.

HMO India tweeted today, MHA has handed over the investigation of the case related to the brutal murder of Shri Umesh Kolhe in Amravati Maharashtra on 21st June to the NIA.The conspiracy behind the murder, the involvement of the organizations and international relations will be thoroughly investigated.

So far six people have been arrested and sent to police custody.  They all are arrested under IPC sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), said Vikram Sali, DCP Amravati. According to news agency ANI, when he was asked the reason behind the murder, he said, “Prima facie it seems so”.

Earlier, Kanhaiya Lal was killed by two knife wielders – Riyaz Akhtari and Ghaus Mohammed, who posted a horrific video of the crime online. However, towards the end of the day, both the main accused were arrested from Rajsamand. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday detained both the accused.
