HOODA and SAMSON’s MASTERCLASS
After winning the toss on a good batting track, India decided to bat first and has put an event in the ground. Batting first India posted a humongous total of 225 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. That was simply brutal from DEEPAK HOODA and SANJU SAMSON, who both stitched a record (highest) partnership for India in T20Is. Having lost ISHAN KISHAN early, the duo built a massive 176 runs partnership, thanks to DEEPAK’s 104(57) and SAMSON’s77(42). SAMSON came into the side in place of GAIKWAD and opened the innings with ISHAN KISHAN. DEEPAK HOODA smashed his maiden ton and SAMSON recorded his personal best in T20Is. As a result of this mind blowing partnership, India left Ireland with a tough task to accomplish. MARK ADAIR was the pick of the bowlers for Ireland with 3 wickets for 42 runs in 4 overs.
Ireland Fight Back
Not many have thought that this game will go so close after a pure masterclass from HOODA and SAMSON. In reply Ireland got off to a flier smashing 65 runs in just 5 overs. PAUL STIRLING 40(18) and ANDREW BALBIRNIE 60(37) not only put Ireland in a good position but also showed composure to turn that around for them. But It was the time for another youngster from India to join the party, RAVI BISHNOI. He dismissed STIRLING followed by DELANY in the very next over. It was the spin bowling that changed the course of the game but Ireland kept on hunting for boundaries. HARRY TECTOR 39(28) , GEORGE DOCKRELL 34(18) kept Ireland alive in the hunt. BHUVNESHWAR showed his class again and bowled the 18th over beautifully by just giving 7 runs with a wicket of TECTOR. HARSHAL bowled the penultimate over and it was down to ‘The Speed Gun Of India’ UMRAN MALIK, who defended 17 runs in the last over to clinch the last ball thriller for India as Ireland need six runs of the last ball. UMRAN kept his nerve and gave only one run and INDIA beat IRELAND by 4 runs to clinch the series by 2-0.
