A 21-year-old Indian yoga instructor made history on International Yoga Day for the longest duration held in the scorpion position. Preeti Maske, a mother of two from Pune, recently broke the record for the shortest solo bike tour by travelling 55 hours and 13 minutes from Leh to Manali. The 45-year-old has reportedly met the Guinness World Records requirements after travelling the 430km journey. On the 6,000-kilometer-long Golden Quadrilateral, she purportedly holds the record for the quickest female cyclist.
The Border Roads Organization’s Chief Engineer in Leh, Brigadier Gaurav Karki, flagged off Preeti around six in the morning, according to the authorities. At 13:13 on June 24, she finished the ride in Manali with the assistance of Col. Shabarish Vachali, Commander, BRO. Analysts evaluated the route’s 8,000m height rise as highly tough.
Preeti has broken a lot of records in long-distance cycling.
Preeti declared that age is not a barrier to pursuing one’s passion and expressed her happiness at reaching this milestone. She also stated,
To overcome illness, I started cycling at the age of 40. If I can overcome my fears, then any woman can.
Preeti started the ride on June 22. Guinness World Records had given her 60 hours to complete this task. Β She claimed that she ran out of breath at high passes and had to use oxygen twice while travelling.
Anand Kansal, a member of her staff, recounted that “Preeti had to cycle in harsh, varying climate on all the high altitude passes fighting the heat, strong head winds, snowfall, and freezing temperatures.”
Kansal asserts that this could not have been done without the help of BRO, which had dispatched two support vehicles with a satellite phone and a medical attendant.
