Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team created history by defeating 41 time Ranji Trophy Champion in the Final of Ranji Trophy 2021/22 to clinch their maiden Ranji Trophy Title here on the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. MP team was featuring in their first ever Ranji Trophy Final after a long Gap of 2 decades since 1998/99 season.
Under the leadership of ADITYA SHRIVASTAVA, MP Team restricted Mumbai on the total of 374 in the first innings thanks to the four and three wicket hauls from GAURAV YADAV and ANUBHAV AGARWAL. SARFARAZ KHAN continued his glorious form and smashed a hundred scoring 134 runs well supported by YASHASVI JAISWAL’S 78 runs in the first innings for MUMBAI Team. In response to this, MP team showed their caliber and rigidity by posting a huge total of 536 runs in front of the MUMBAI Team, thanks to the classy and wonderful hundreds of YASH DUBEY(133), SHUBHAM SHARMA(116) and RAJAT PATIDAR(122).
In the second innings, Mumbai Team only managed to score 269 runs as a result of PRITHVI SHAW’s (44) and SARFARAZ KHAN’s(45) runs setting the target of 108 runs for MADHYA PRADESH. KUMAR KARTIKEYA bagged 4 wickets. In response to this, MP team easily chased down the target with 6 wickets in hand and won their first ever RANJI Title.
SHUBHAM SHARMA bagged PLAYER OF THE MATCH award whereas
SARFARAZ KHAN was adjudged as PLAYER OF THE SERIES.
