World-renowned photographer Steve McCurry has re-shared a photograph of an Afghan refugee which has again created a stir on the internet that the man in the picture is actor Amitabh Bachchan.
The picture of him wearing a turban, rugged, old bearded spectacles went viral in 2018. After this, people shared the picture saying that it is a shot of Big B from the sets of his film Thugs of Hindostan, which also starred Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh, had a special appearance by Katrina Kaif.
The similarity between the picture and the Bollywood actor is such that it has again taken the internet by storm. The picture shared on Tuesday has garnered more than 75,000 likes. Many said that the picture resembles Mr Bachchan, others wrote that they thought it was Big B’s look for his next film.
Photographer Steve McCurry while posting the picture on his Instagram wrote. “The portrait of Shabuz, an Afghan refugee living in Pakistan, reminds us of the millions of displaced peoples around the world. The unprecedented humanitarian crises across the globe, have resulted in the largest number of refugees in history. A hundred million people have been displaced from their homes. We must all redouble our efforts to support these people, who through no fault of their own, find themselves in vulnerable and precarious situations”.
However, it turns out that the man in the picture is not Amitabh Bachchan and that the picture is not a part of Thugs of Hindostan or any other Big B’s upcoming film. In fact, he is not an actor at all, it’s just a potrait. In the caption, Mr McCurry explained that the picture is of a 68-year-old Afghan refugee living in Pakistan.
