In order to encourage the Indian men’s national team ahead of their just finished 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifications, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) allegedly spent 16 lakh rupees to employ an astrological service.
Igor Stimac’s menĀ played up to their reputation as favourites in the Asian Cup qualifications, defeating Cambodia, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong to maintain their perfect record and, as a result, becoming the first team in history to qualify forĀ Asian Cup 2023 on a series of occasions.
According to a report from PTI,
A motivator was appointed for the National team ahead of the Asian Cup. Later on, it came to light that the company which was engaged, was an astrological firm. Plainly-speaking, an astrologer was appointed to motivate the team. Huge payment to the tune of Rs 16 lakh was made.
Tanumoy Bose, a former goalkeeper for India, mocked the notion and blasted the AIFF for degenerating into a pathetic joke. He stated to PTI that,
At a time when the AIFF repeatedly failed to conduct proper youth leagues, and many prestigious tournaments were forced to shut down, incidents like this will further tarnish the image of Indian football.
The CoA (which is running the show in AIFF after the suspension of president Praful Patel) must go deep into this appalling incident and find out who all are responsible behind it. There are many scams waiting to see the light of the day
In Indian football, black magic is nothing new. One Delhi-based squad once recruited a Meerut-based “Baba” for a crucial league game, and after their victory, the team credited him with their achievement.

I think some people may accept this and some may not and I think it’s so rubbish to depend on this rather than on focusing on the gameplay and strategies more.I wish Indian football should reach great heights and almost to equal level of cricket if that happens then these kind of thing would not happen
