SKY-HIGH! IPL TV And Digital Media Rights Bagged By Star India And Viacom18 For A Whopping Rs.48,390 Crore

The IPL television and digital rights for the 2023- 2027 cycle have been vended to Star India and Viacom18 independently for a whopping Rs crore for 410 matches ate-auctions on Tuesday. IPL is now the second most valued sporting league in the world in terms of per match value.

The Package A( of TV) has been vended to Star India at Rs crore which is Rs57.5 crore per match and Package B of Digital Rights as well as Package C for named 18 games in digital space for India each season has been vended to Viacom- 18 at Rs. Reliance- possessed Viacom- 18 also won Australia, South Africa and United Kingdom rights. Times have got MENA( Middle East North Africa) and the United States and the Rest of the World Rights.

Star India wins India TV rights with their bid of Rs 23,575 crores and Viacom18 bags digital rights with its winning bid of Rs 23,758 crores. “India has seen a digital revolution & the sector has endless potential.” says the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah.

Shah further added that “The BCCI will utilize the revenue generated from IPL to strengthen our domestic cricket structure starting from grassroots, to boost infrastructure and spruce up facilities across India and enrich the overall cricket-watching experience.”
