VHP passed a resolution calling for a uniform civil code to ‘find solutions to various challenges’

On Sunday, the Vishva Hindu Parishad issued a resolution in support of the Uniform Civil Code’s implementation, with the goal of finding a long-term solution to the country’s problems.

The VHP, on the other hand, has not threatened a demonstration for the purpose, instead urging the Centre to consult all segments of society and achieve a consensus on the UCC’s implementation.

“For the resolution of many problems in the country, it is important to apply one legislation for every sector of the society,” Juna Peethadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj stated during a high-level meeting hosted by the VHP’s Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal in Haridwar.

Some Muslim organizations, such as Jamaat Ulama-e-Hind and the All India Personal Law Board, had expressed opposition to the implementation of UCC.

It’s worth noting that there are a slew of Uniform Civil Code cases pending before the Supreme Court. Several petitions have been filed calling for the UCC to be implemented in the country. The demand for the legislation’s implementation is being made under Article 44 of the Constitution.

In response to a petition, the central government stated that the subject is being considered by the Law Commission, and that implementation will take place only once its report is released. The Centre has yet to take any action in this regard.

However, several states, such as Uttarakhand, have already formed a team to develop the draught.

The forced religious conversions across the country were also discussed during the VHP’s high-level meeting.

“Forcible conversions are being conducted strategically in some tribal areas.” “It’s difficult to prevent such conversions without taking drastic measures,” a saint in the conference warned.
