Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra’s environment and tourism minister stated on Sunday that the state may be seeing the fourth wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, but urged residents not to be alarmed.
Thackeray told reporters that Covid-19-related deaths are not on the rise in the state.
“When going outside, we ask that everyone wears a mask. We haven’t made the masks required yet, but we will shortly. The Maharashtra minister was cited by the news agency ANI as adding, “I also appeal to the public to obtain the booster dosage of the vaccination on time.”
For the previous week, the western state has observed an increase in Covid-19 cases, with a daily count exceeding 1,000 for the last five days.
Maharashtra added 1,494 instances on Sunday, bringing the total to 78,93,197. Six hundred and fourteen patients recovered from the virus, while one more patient died, bringing the total number of recoveries and deaths to 77,38,564 and 1,47,866, respectively.
State health minister Rajesh Tope stated a day ago that while masks are not currently required in public places, he urged people to do so in locations affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
“The Covid-19 task team convened this week and resolved to urge individuals to wear masks in both crowded and closed areas including as buses, trains, schools, and offices. “This is an appeal, and till now, we have not made masks mandatory,” Tope said in Pune.
According to him, the recent uptick in cases in Maharashtra is limited to a few areas, including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad.
“Despite the increase in occurrences, hospitalization cases are rare.” Due to their immunity, patients recover in eight days,” the Maharashtra health minister added.
