Asia Cup Hockey 2022 : India wins bronze with a 1-0 victory against Japan

India vs Japan, Asia Cup Hockey 2022 Highlights: Rajkumar Pal scored for India early in the match and they managed to hold on to that lead, thus winning bronze in the tournament despite fielding a team that had 12 debutants.
India won bronze at the Asia Cup after defeating Japan 1-0. India took the lead early in the first quarter thanks to Rajkumar Pal, and they were able to keep it. Japan had seven penalty corners to India’s two, although India had an 11-10 advantage in circle penetration. India was reduced to ten men in the final minute of the match, but they held on to earn their second Asia Cup bronze medal.

Only Lakra and Simranjeet Singh were members of the team that won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, and they still won bronze here. These are all positive signals, and they simply go to demonstrate how deep men’s hockey is right now. No one in the Indian first XI can take anything for granted.

“It was a challenging task. Because we had not qualified for the final, it was tough to push ourselves for a match like this. The coaches, on the other hand, gave us advice on how to stay focused during a game like this. In our first game versus Japan in this competition, we had lost. The lads, on the other hand, exercised, watched videos, and improved with each game. I am quite pleased of them; it is a young team, and they immediately remedied their errors,” Birendra said.
