S Jaishankar:  the Centre is in discussion with Hungary about admitting Indian students.

Union Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar said in Vadodara on Monday that the Union government is “concerned” about the education of Indian medical students who fled war-torn Ukraine following the Russian incursion.

“We are in talks with other countries in the region to come up with a solution that will allow Indian students to continue their medical studies at Ukrainian universities. We’ve spoken with Hungary, and they’re eager to work with us to accommodate as many Indian students as possible whose studies have been disrupted by the Ukraine conflict. “We are taking this matter seriously and doing everything we can to help our youngsters,” Jaishankar added.

The minister came to Vadodara on a two-day visit and distributed financial support totaling Rs 1.7 crore under the PM CARES for Children Scheme to 17 children who were orphaned during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The government will deposit Rs 10 lakh into a post office account for the 17 recipients. Each child will receive a post office passbook, an Ayushman Card, and a PM CARES fund certificate. The child will receive a stipend from the age of 18 to 23 years under the arrangement. The beneficiary will thereafter receive the total sum of Rs 10 lakh.
