According to information, as stated by the authorities that, on Wednesday, a restaurant fire in northeastern China claimed the lives of 17 people and injuring three people.
As per the statement given by the Changchun city government, the fire began in a restaurant at 12:40 PM (0440 GMT). Firefighters “rushed to the location”, as per the reports and wrapped up the search and rescue mission by three o’clock.
Posthumous care was being given to the victims, as stated by the authorities, while the injured were sent to hospitals for care. The officials are looking into the cause of the tragedy.
Deathly fires frequently break out in China, where building standards are not strictly followed and illegal construction is widespread, making it impossible for people to escape from burning premises.
Although a skyscraper housing a China Telecom office was partially destroyed by a large fire that broke out previously in this month in Changsha’s downtown district, although no injuries were recorded.
